Behavioral Health Consultant – Galena, Alaska – Tanana Chiefs Conference

Job incumbent facilitates behavioral health screening and brief intervention services using the motivational interviewing techniques and patient centered, individualized care with utilization of the primary care team for optimization of care. Position also provides interim crisis relief/management and other counseling interventions or activities when appropriate. Adhere to the TCC  Ch’eghwtsen’ model of service and guiding principle which requires providing timely and effective service along with the ability to interact with others in a way that inspires trust and demonstrates respect, compassion and empathy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the areas of psychology, counseling, social work or related human services field; emphasis in the practice of behavioral health preferred.
  • Candidate may have a combination of work and educational experience to meet general degree requirement.
  • Must have or be able to obtain Counselor Technician or Counselor I or II certification, within one year of hire.
  • Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
  • Must pass background check pursuant to Alaska DHSS and federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
