Job incumbent’s primary responsibility is to provide ophthalmologic care to IHS beneficiaries (Alaska Natives and American Indians) seeking such care at TCC. This will include diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic services to patients in the specialty field of Ophthalmology. It is anticipated that the Ophthalmologist will work closely in collaboration with the Department of Optometry and the Eye Clinic, but will not have a supervisory role over that department or its staff. It is further anticipated that the ophthalmologist will perform surgical procedures at the TCC Ambulatory Surgery Center. Job incumbent may serve as Section Lead for the Ophthalmology Section. Job duties will be located in the Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center (CAIHC) and in the ambulatory surgery center (ASC) associated with Tanana Chiefs Conference (TCC) – a consortium of Interior Alaska Native tribes.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Graduation from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school with an MD or DO, as well as successful completion of a residency in Ophthalmology.
2. Ophthalmologist will maintain appropriate Board certification with the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO).
3. Participation in a program of maintenance of certification.
4. Must be able to meet all guidelines necessary to become credentialed and privileged as a member of the TCC Clinical Staff.
5. Ophthalmologist shall be currently licensed (or qualified to pursue licensure) as a physician in the state of Alaska.
6. Demonstration of recent relevant experience. Two (2) years of experience preferred but new graduates will be considered. New graduate applicants must be ABO Board eligible.
7. Acceptable malpractice history.
8. Current BLS/ACLS certification.
9. Current DEA registration certificate for prescribing authority.
